No matter how old a firstborn child is, they’ll have some adjusting to do when a brother or a sister comes on the scene. As a Horsham newborn photographer, I love the opportunity to incorporate siblings into newborn shoots, as I did during this recent session. Capturing this interaction is one of my favourite things to do but I’m sensitive to the fact that it can be quite an unsettling time for them.
I like to take the opportunity to make them feel special, for them to dress up and have a few photos on their own. There’s no pressure for them to cuddle or interact with their new brother or sister. We take things at their pace and, when they’re ready, I’ll be there to simply capture the moment.
