Expectant parents often ask me when’s the best time to photograph their baby. Certainly as far as newborn photography is concerned, the initial two week window is key. Anytime from birth to about 15 days is the best, as they spend most of their time sleeping. This means that I have a greater chance of getting those comfortably-curled shots that my clients love.
After the newborn stage, then I really would advise parents to wait until their babies are sitting. Ideal for babies approximately 6-10 months old or when they can sit confidently but are not yet on the move, a sitter session will capture your baby’s emerging personality. Babies are very interactive at this age; smiling easily, giggling and making faces. Baby photography allows us to capture all the expressions that make your baby who they are. And, as your baby approaches their first birthday, there’s no better way than a baby photography session to mark this special milestone.
